Over that past year, the SASCU Community Endowment Fund has grown to $44,472. This year the invested interest again went towards a grant to the Salmon Arm Bay Nature Enhancement Society (SABNES). An upgrade to boardwalks and a weed control machine will be purchased for the 2012 walking season.
SASCU is proud to support SABNES and their work in maintaining Salmon Arm's popular foreshore trail.
Donations to this growing fund can be made online through the Shuswap Community Foundation web site or visit us in-branch.
We look forward to watching our endowment fund support projects in the Shuswap, forever.

SASCU can be proud that the 2010 funds from the SASCU Community Endowment Fund went to support the environmental work of SABNES (Salmon Arm Bay Nature Enhancement Society). The goal of this group is to work toward the protection and promotion of the wetland sanctuary in Salmon Arm Bay.
At the September Shuswap Community Foundation Annual Community Meeting, a grant was awarded to SABNES to help upgrade the public foreshore trail – which runs 4 km from Raven subdivision to Marine Park – and to install buoys just off the shore line to alert boaters to the area's sensitive habitat.
SASCU's endowment fund grew from $10,000 to $32,197 during the Foundation's 2009/2010 fiscal year. The interest earned on this invested capital allowed for the disbursement of the endowment fund's first grant.
As the SASCU Community Endowment Fund continues to grow, we look forward to supporting environmental projects in the Shuswap, forever.

Giving back to the community is an important part of what we do at SASCU. In 2010, a total of $213,094 was re-invested through our Community Sponsorship Program in the form of sponsorships, scholarships and gifts-in-kind.
In the spring of 2009, the SASCU Board of Directors decided to take this commitment a step further. A community endowment fund in support of environmental projects was established – a new fund that will grow in perpetuity with the earned interest invested back into the community each year, forever.
To visually emphasize the fund's purpose, SASCU commissioned a painting by local artist Otto Pfannschmidt. A sweeping depiction of Mt. Ida, the Fly Hills and the Salmon Valley now hangs in the Salmon Arm Main Branch. Like this painting, the SASCU Community Endowment Fund is a lasting legacy.
To support this fund, you can donate online through the Shuswap Community Foundation or print out and complete the SASCU Community Endowment Fund brochure which is also available at all three branches.
