As a Commercial Producer, you will actively manage and develop a portfolio of commercial insurance accounts and ensure businesses are covered for risks facing their operations. This role undertakes a variety of business development activities, including solving customer concerns to ensure retention of business and servicing customer accounts by identifying additional business opportunities.
  • Develop and manage commercial accounts, actively seeking new business to meet sales targets by maintaining an active pipeline of prospects, generating leads from personal contacts, outbound calls, networking, customer referrals, and other sources. 
  • Profile customers to identify current and future needs, provide comprehensive insurance advice, prepare quotes, and sell commercial insurance to both new and existing customers. 
  • Work on multiple commercial coverage lines including property, general liability, packages, auto, business owner’s policies, directors and officers coverage, employment practices liability, errors and omissions, inland marine, and bonds.
  • Meet with customers both in and outside of the office as necessary in order to build relationships, identify coverage needs, and make basic risk management recommendations. 
  • Utilize negotiating skills to find creative insurance solutions for complex risks. 
  • Prepare all related documentation for a portfolio of commercial customer requests including routine policy changes, additions, deletions, renewals, and cancellations.
  • Respond to emergencies and assist customers with their claims while adhering to the appropriate follow-up procedures, ensuring accurate claims servicing. 
  • Follow up on commercial line referrals and facilitate referrals to relevant SASCU staff. 
  • Provide guidance to other insurance employees as required.
  • Level 2 General Insurance Agent’s License. 
  • CAIB, CIP, or FCIP designation and eligibility to act as Nominee. 
  • 5 years’ personal and commercial lines experience. 
  • Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
  • Comprehensive understanding of all lines of insurance products and familiarity with risk management techniques. 
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office and agency management systems. 
  • Demonstrated results orientation in sales, service, and business development.

Branch Manager

As the Branch Manager at our Downtown Branch, you will provide overall branch management by leading the team to achieve objectives, ensure operational efficiency and deliver on the SASCU Member Experience. The Branch Manager will coach the sales team to achieve results and implement SASCU’s sales and advice strategy and tactics. The Branch Manager will develop a proactive strategy to lead the branch to build a greater membership base and have a positive impact on the community.

  • Coach the branch team on branch objectives/goals and ensure teamwork to achieve the desired results. 
  • Ensure effective use of campaigns to support achieving annual financial targets.
  • Build relationships with internal partners and keep informed of local market activities to support other business goals.
  • Implement SASCU service standards, processes, and plans.
  • Be visible and accessible, welcoming interaction with employees and members to build rapport, discuss their needs and resolve concerns.
  • Ensure strong and open channel of communication and collaboration within the branch team and across SASCU departments and subsidiaries.
  • Effectively lead employees through change with particular emphasis on change tools, processes, and collaboration with Human Resources as necessary.
  • Make staffing decisions (hiring, promotion, and corrective action) and participate in decisions made by the Manager, Member Experience to leverage the talents of the branch team.
  • Develop and recommend operational plans, budgets, and staffing levels to ensure that the needs of the credit union are met.
  • Manage and assigned portfolio of members, servicing their investing, lending, and general banking needs.
  • Seven to ten years of financial industry experience, including at least three years at the leadership level.
  • Mutual funds license or willing to be licensed within a three-month period.
  • A degree or diploma in Business Administration is preferred.
  • Access to transportation and willingness to travel within the SASCU community.
  • Demonstrate a results orientation in both sales and service.
  • Have an aptitude for business development and relationship building.

Service Desk Technician
Permanent, Full Time

As a Service Desk Technician with SASCU’s Information Technology department, you’ll provide technology support to SASCU staff to allow them to accomplish business tasks. This includes being the primary contact on the SASCU service desk for problem determination, reporting, active resolution, and escalation.
  • Provide initial inbound contact and problem resolution via the service desk by answering enquiries from users with hardware, software, and application issues. 
  • Resolve user-reported issues in an effective, timely, and courteous manner using available tools, procedures, and policies. 
  • Communicate service impacts and updated resolution events to affected users and partners. 
  • Support IT department activities by assisting in the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of equipment and peripherals across SASCU. 
  • Contribute written procedures and solutions to technician knowledge base and FAQ lists for end users. 
  • Support the Training department to train and orient staff to the use of software and hardware. 
  • Support the IT department with SASCU projects and initiatives, both short-term and ongoing.
  • 2-4 years’ related experience in a first-level IT role, providing desktop and application support. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey technical information that is understood by a broad range of knowledge levels. 
  • Ability to effectively prioritize work to meet deadlines within a fast-paced, changing environment. 
  • Exceptional customer service orientation, with the ability to display empathy and gain the confidence of internal customers. 
  • Ability to work independently with demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Valid BC driver’s license and the ability to travel independently between SASCU locations is required.

Marketing Summer Student
Temporary, Full Time (May 1, 2024 to August 31, 2024)

As a Marketing Summer Student, you will support member engagement, retention, and growth via digital channels and through community involvement activities. Strengthening SASCU’s reputation via public relations and social media will be a key goal. You will measure and report on performance results relative to established metrics and strategic goals.
Social Media
  • Work with SASCU’s graphic designer to complete writing and design projects.
  • Execute SASCU’s Social Media Strategy including sourcing, writing, creating, and coordinating content material, including video.
  • Maintain SASCU’s presence in online communities, monitor comments, queries and requests, and ensure timely and appropriate follow-up.
Community
  • Support SASCU Community Crew engagement and participation.
  • Enhance SASCU’s visibility and appropriate participation in projects, activities, events, and other supported initiatives, particularly those where sponsorship partnerships have been established.

  • Advise members on a full range of deposit and investment products (including new accounts, mutual funds, registered products, and term deposits).

Manager, Commercial Centre

As the Manager, Commercial Centre, you will drive the success of the Commercial Centre by leading and managing all aspects of commercial operations. This includes developing and implementing effective business strategies, managing client relationships, and leading a team to desired results.
  • Manage the commercial team, including oversight of priorities and team workload, payroll, and scheduling.
  • Develop training plans for the commercial team in conjunction with the Training Department, and provide and/or coordinate commercial team training.

  • Manage an assigned portfolio of business members with lending needs, delivering timely and relevant financial advice and solutions based on their needs.

  • Eight to ten years of financial services experience, including at least five years of commercial lending experience.
  • Accredited Business Lender credential, or an equivalent credential or designation.
  • A degree or diploma in Business Administration is preferred.

  • Demonstrate a results orientation in delivering advice and a memorable customer experience.

Our Service Representatives are the face of SASCU. By becoming part of the SASCU team, you have the opportunity to use and develop your professional skills and share your expertise by helping to improve the wellbeing of our members.

  • Provide best-in-class service by accurately processing account transactions including deposits, withdrawals, bill payments, and official cheques.
  • Engage our members in conversations to uncover opportunities for SASCU to assist them in reaching their goals.
  • Identify member needs and provide relevant options and helpful information.
  • Connect our members with other SASCU staff to fully meet their financial needs.
  • Meet organizational goals by achieving sales and referral targets.
  • Perform other tasks that contribute to the success of our members and SASCU.
  • A secondary school diploma along with 1-3 years of sales experience in a service-oriented environment.
  • Comfort with technology, and readiness to learn new systems and programs.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a team-oriented mindset.
  • Enthusiasm for building strong relationships with our members, delivering quality member service, and developing a career in financial services.
  • A competitive base salary ($20.23 - $23.79 per hour) plus performance-based incentive pay, and a pension plan with SASCU matching all contributions.
