  • Salmon Arm Seconday: Five $1,600 Scholarships 
  • Eagle River Secondary: One $1,600 Scholarship 
  • Salmon Arm Storefront: One $1,600 Scholarship
  • King's Christian School: One $1,600 Scholarship
  • A.L. Fortune Secondary: One $1,600 Scholarship

Scholarship Criteria

  • Demonstrated academic or technical achievement
  • Community involvement, school involvement, or extraordinary work ethic
  • Membership with SASCU
  • Enrolled full-time in an accredited post-secondary institution
Important Dates

  • School District #83: Applications are made available yearly in April. Deadline for applications is yearly at the end of May.
  • Okanagan College: Applications open March 1st and close at the end of May. 

How to Apply 

  1. Applications are available from your school counsellor at your respective academic institution
  2. Applications need to be completed in full and returned to the school counsellor by a determined date
  3. Applications will then be reviewed by a selection committee
  4. Scholarships will be awarded at graduation ceremonies in that application year

  • Eagle River Secondary: one $1000 award
  • Salmon Arm Storefront: two $1000 awards
  • King's Christian School: one $1000 award
  • A.L. Fortune Secondary: one $1000 award

Award Criteria

  • Demonstrated success and strong work ethic in intended field of post-secondary study
  • Membership with SASCU
  • Student pursuing post-secondary studies that are 6 weeks or over in length OR 6 credits per semester as a part time student (this includes vocational programs — Trades Apprenticeship, Trades Foundation, Education Assistant, Health Care Assistant, Early Childhood Education, Office Administration, etc. — as well as part time university transfer and business studies)

Available Bursaries

Okanagan College Bursary Overview

  • Applicant must be entering a trades program at the Okanagan College Salmon Arm Campus
  • Application can be completed online through myOkanagan
  • Applicant must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident, a resident of the Shuswap, a SASCU member, and demonstrate financial need

Credit Unions of BC Bursary Overview

  • Applicant must supply proof of enrolment, tuition payment and transcripts 
  • Applicant must have a demonstrated financial need
  • Applicants program of study may be academic, vocational, technical, or technological

SASCU Community Endowment Fund 

We offer funds for environmental projects that benefit or enhance the environment or which promote environmental awareness by providing access to outdoor recreation or environmental education opportunities.

SASCU Youth Endowment Fund

This is a fairly new fund and criteria is quite open for applicants. As it stands, the criteria for this fund is:

  • it must benefit 'Youth' which we've defined as ages 12-21
  • applicants must be a SASCU member
