No, debit Mastercard is strictly a debit card, with additional payment functionality. Any purchases made with a debit Mastercard will be debited directly from your chequing account at the time of purchase. This means you don’t owe anything after and there is no accrued interest.

No, all debit MEMBER CARDS will be replaced with a debit Mastercard.

Your MEMBER CARD is now a debit Mastercard product that offers more features. It can be used to make online purchases, in-stores locally and internationally, anywhere Mastercard is accepted. Please note, if you don’t require any of these new features, you can always turn them off using the Lock’n’Block feature on our mobile app.

No, debit Mastercard uses funds from your chequing account and does not build any credit. It is a debit product.

Yes, your debit Mastercard can be added to your Apple, Samsung, or Google Wallet. If this is a replacement card and you had your previous debit card in your mobile wallet, you have to delete your previous card then add your new one.

You won’t be held responsible for unauthorized charges made with your card with Interac Zero Liability and Mastercard Zero Liability. Also, real-time fraud detection solutions are in place to monitor and detect suspicious charges, including real-time SMS texts to cardholders.

Fraudulent card activity should either be reported directly to our Contact Centre, or to lock the card call Everlink’s 24-hour hotline: 1-888-277-1043. Cards can also be locked through the Lock’n’Block feature in online banking or our app (on Apple or Android devices).

Whether or not a merchant will accept a debit card product as payment will vary from merchant to merchant. We recommend calling the hotel or rental car agency to confirm before you make a reservation. Please note that these policies for payment are set by the merchant and not SASCU.

Holds may also apply for reservations, and that you must have enough in your account to cover the value of the hold. If you are unsure of the hold value, please contact the merchant to clarify.

Some merchants may take longer to process payments than others, so you may see some transactions posted to your account quicker than others. Some online merchants may also not process payments until your purchase is shipped. Please note that payment holds are determined by the merchant and not by SASCU.
