Overview

At SASCU, we believe strong communities are built on grassroots efforts, everyday connections, and the people who bring them to life. That’s why our donation program focuses on supporting local organizations, volunteer groups, and small-scale initiatives that make a meaningful difference in the Shuswap.

We provide philanthropic gifts in the form of financial support and in-kind contributions to help bring your community event or initiative to life.

Financial Donations

Our donation funding is divided into two main tiers:

These smaller contributions are ideal for community events, youth sports teams, local school programs, service clubs, or neighborhood initiatives. If you're hosting a tournament, planning a community BBQ, or running a grassroots project, this is the right fit for you.

Donations Under $500

Requests in this range must align with SASCU’s broader community goals. These donations are designed to support long-term wellbeing, economic resilience, and inclusion throughout the Shuswap. To be considered, applicants must provide the organization’s financial statements and a clear project budget.

Donations at this tier are evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Community empowerment (does the project help organizations build their own capacity?)
  • Accessibility
  • Contribution to food security
  • Potential for long-term impact
  • Support for Indigenous communities
  • Demonstrated need, both within the organization and the broader community
  • Does this program work with other organizations to maximize impact

All donation requests must demonstrate direct community benefit. We’re here to support the people and projects that are truly making a difference.

Donations Between $501-$2500

Beyond Financial Support

SASCU also offers several non-monetary ways to support community events and causes:

Tent Loans

Need a tent for your event? We have branded tents available for use at community gatherings, markets, and festivals. Just let us know in your application or event planning process.

Community Crew Volunteers

Our staff-led volunteer program is always looking for ways to give back. If your event could use extra support, our Community Crew may be able to help with setup, teardown, or event activities.

Gifts in Kind

Hosting a silent auction, raffle, or prize draw? We regularly donate branded items, gift baskets, or merchandise to support fundraising events across the Shuswap.

How to Apply

We welcome donation requests throughout the year. Whether you’re planning a small community gathering or a school fundraiser, we’d love to hear from you.

Donation FAQs

Local non-profits, grassroots organizations, volunteer groups, and community-based initiatives in the Shuswap are eligible. SASCU donations are designed to support projects that demonstrate genuine need and provide a clear benefit to the local community. Donations may be used to directly support these initiatives or to help leverage additional organizational funds.

Yes. While we do our best to support as many local initiatives as possible, there are some areas we are not able to fund. These include:
  • Travel or travel-related expenses
  • Requests from individuals for personal support

SASCU does not fund school travel, playgrounds, sound systems, or other projects that are typically supported through government funding. We do support schools that are hosting community fundraisers, as long as the request benefits the wider community and does not include travel or individual support. Fundraising requests are subject to approval, and each application will be reviewed for alignment with SASCU’s strategic initiatives.

  • $500 and under: For small-scale initiatives such as youth sports teams, local gatherings, or grassroots school fundraisers.
  • $501 to $2,500: For projects that align with SASCU’s broader goals such as building economic resilience, supporting food security, and fostering inclusion. Requests at this level require financial statements and a project budget.

No. Beyond monetary donations, SASCU also offers:

  • Tent loans for community events
  • Community Crew volunteers to help with setup, teardown, or event activities
  • Gifts in kind such as branded items, gift baskets, or merchandise for raffles and fundraisers

Donation requests are welcome year-round. Applications can be submitted online through our Donations page. If you are unsure which funding tier fits your request or need guidance with your application, please reach out. We are happy to help.
